MOSCOW – A very strong Soviet baby avoided death after a car she was riding in skidded out of control on an icy highway in the Russian mainland. Without hope of grabbing friction at its accelerated speeds on ice, the car slammed straight into an oncoming truck.
To make matters worse, the 1-year-old child was not strapped to a carseat. She was ejected from the vehicle and then landed face down on the highway’s cold, rough pavement. Onlookers could only watch in horror as a passing truck narrowly avoided running over the baby.
Russian news reports the 53-year-old driver lost control of his SUV when he was trying to pass another car. Cops say the man had the baby ‘placed like a doll’ on a ledge under the back windshield of the car. She was not strapped into her carseat.
The driver did take the girl to a hospital, where she was found to have only minor scratches.
